<br />
Each year I entertain myself by noting the untimely appearances of Christmas advertising and merchandise, and each year it seems to come sooner and sooner. But I doubt that even in my festivest fantasies I could have conceived getting Christmas-related mail in early SEPTEMBER. I can just about justify the move by appreciating the nature of the product in question and the amount of excitement it created last year, so without further ado, let me share with you the news that<br />

<b>Ciate is bringing back the Mini Mani Month nail polish Advent calendar!</b></div>

<br />
<br />
As an owner of last year's calendar, my firs question was, of course - is it going to be the same? Partly different? Entirely new?<br />
<br />
The answer is exciting and will most likely cost me £42 - the whole range of colours in this year's calendar is entirely new, with exclusive caviars, glitters, sequins and other Ciate's novelties alike. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Currently available at Selfridges, and soon coming to Ciate's webpage, it is likely to sell out pretty quickly (hence such an early appearance), but get yourself on Ciate's mailing list and keep your hand on the re-stocking pulse.<br />

And given that it is year 2013, of course had to be the rose gold variation of pink. The rose gold trend has been dominating the precious metal scene over the last few years, and shows no signs of stopping.<br />

On the nails, rose gold looks very refined and, dare I say it, glamorous. Hence the name, I guess: <i>Glamorous Life</i> by Deborah Lippmann.<br />

This is one of my favourite nail polishes in my collection, and the only thing that is stopping me from saying "THE favourite polish" is just how difficult it is to apply! I don't know whether it is because I have extraordinarily streaky nails, or it is an inherent property of foil polishes. Probably both. But the glowing effect it gives your hands is worth the struggle.<br />

Extraordinarily successful representatives of their cosmetic categories tend to accumulate appraisals and promotions from beauty editors, beauty bloggers, and youtubers alike exponentially - the more people talk about it, the more people talk about it. This is, of course, known as <i>hype</i>. A product's fame is amplified significantly if it is <b>hard to get</b>. And the less available the hyped up product is, the better it seems to preform. To observe that phenomenon, one only has to look up some reviews on Makeup Alley (www.makeupalley.com) of products that have been discontinued. I am confident to predict, that the majority of products that have the "discontinued" seal on it rate at least four or higher.<br />
<br />
The product I want to mention today is not discontinued, but is infinitely difficult to get hold of if you are located anywhere else in the world other than a 'participating salon' in the United States. I am talking about the <i>Miracle Leave-in Product</i> by It's a 10. This has received extensive coverage in the various medias regarding it's miraculous properties (it's a hair leave-in conditioner by the way), so obviously I felt compelled to try it. Google returned few options in response to my attempts to purchase the damn thing, mostly including shipping from Australia for the price of a small jar of gilded caviar. So I abandoned hope and put my desire on standby until some willing participants agreed to go out of their way in their travels to America to purchase and deliver a desperate soul some hair spritz. And then one day, aimlessly exploring the dump that is our local TK Max for concealed treasures, I see it! Just standing there, bearing a price tag of £12, less then a half of what I was almost prepared to pay for him.<br />
<br />
Interpreting this as no less than a sign from the Gods of Hair Styling, I purchased him, rushed home and washed my hair immediately, disregarding rebelliously my previously constructed hair-washing schedule. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguJIvwhVKdaxURQxwUKjHEZ0BboEAzVh__fLCKict_NQkcPMTNWtd62DaEm1_oW9MGlP5MmyXAShel4-40HIqGWeyHVf237deKoeed0HmUbUn_oUZuSSxZ25cO7ujdfDEBgwaLg4K98Q2m/s1600/It's+a+10+Miracle+Leave+In+Product+Review1.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img alt="It's a 10 Miracle Leave in Product Review" border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguJIvwhVKdaxURQxwUKjHEZ0BboEAzVh__fLCKict_NQkcPMTNWtd62DaEm1_oW9MGlP5MmyXAShel4-40HIqGWeyHVf237deKoeed0HmUbUn_oUZuSSxZ25cO7ujdfDEBgwaLg4K98Q2m/s400/It's+a+10+Miracle+Leave+In+Product+Review1.jpg" title="It's a 10 Miracle Leave in Product Review" width="261" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And then came the <b><i>meh</i></b>. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Perhaps I didn't do it right. Or maybe the stars weren't aligned, but whatever the reason, the <i>Miracle Leave-in Product</i> appeared to leave no mark of improvement on my hair whatsoever. According to the reviews and the claims, it was to repair dry and damaged hair, add shine, smooth and de-frizz, protect from heat, detangle, prevent split ends, provide silkiness and enhance natural body. To be clear, had it succeeded in all of those tasks, it would be, without a doubt, a freakin' miracle. I wish I had at least several of these points to confirm, but I'm afraid I have nothing. It's as if I never applied anything to my hair at all, it's quite remarkable, really. Most rubbish products at lease leave your hair greasy or flat, as a hallmark of their failed mission to make you beautiful. Perhaps I was pointing the nozzle in the wrong direction? Perhaps my bathroom walls and cabinets can now withstand the scorching heat of a flat iron plate, should it ever be applied on them.<br />
<br />
To summarise, I was underwhelmed. Disappointed, really. And also relieved that I didn't have to go through extensive financial and logistical troubles to obtain this conditioner. Now we all understand, that just because something doesn't work for some people doesn't mean that it will not for others, and this is simply another example. I envy the people that reap the benefits from the use of this product, and please don't let my experience discourage you from trying it - the people that like this stuff are still in the majority. But maybe don't set to swim the Atlantic ocean just to get it, there are plenty of impressively good hair products probably a walking distance away from you. Of course there was that odd pine needle colour that was sort of green, but blue, and both but neither in particular, but never had I ever considered "teal" a real option when selecting colours for my computer desktop wallpaper. Same can be said about the mysterious colour taupe, by the way, but that's a whole different story.<br />
<br />
Back to the point - teal is a wonderful and versatile colour (and this is coming from someone who doesn't like blue and is not particularly keep on green either) and I am glad I have discovered it. One makeup product is fuelling my love for teal more that ever, and it is the Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadow with a fetching name <i>8E</i>.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFvqOCDRfn4EKQqbGre0hGQBDWiiBui0eck8IfavEyvMAG3qPcI16HEnY2ZnShoCg5LrWrJOqvHQbDIkOxQ0ciQF3XwpFY-umIf2zdLLDGmEjPf2waMMCTE4mWarCovM9c3QI4kgwRVov8/s1600/MUFE+Make+Up+For+Ever+Aqua+Shadow+8E+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFvqOCDRfn4EKQqbGre0hGQBDWiiBui0eck8IfavEyvMAG3qPcI16HEnY2ZnShoCg5LrWrJOqvHQbDIkOxQ0ciQF3XwpFY-umIf2zdLLDGmEjPf2waMMCTE4mWarCovM9c3QI4kgwRVov8/s640/MUFE+Make+Up+For+Ever+Aqua+Shadow+8E+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
MUFE Aqua Shadows are cream eyeshadows in jumbo pencil form, which also make excellent eyeliners, depending on the shade. The product is soft, does not drag on the lid at all and is easily blended, although you have to be quick, as this will set as stone (I usually do one eye at a time).<br />
<br />
It is not a twist up pencil, so you will need a specially-trained jumbo sharpener to do the job, my fine attempts at which are depicted below.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF_SzL9XlXNapBMH_-Z1GLic7kc_p1KdCTPUc_EKQ8HZrj9G__yzT-rNfnMjDnEXkTHqIcI4wWcgXUgpkl9eADqDP5ur8fTx2h9_SkFtDfX7YXqppJZkSE1gnsNFwZQeDgRJktku4U_2Fn/s1600/MUFE+Make+Up+For+Ever+Aqua+Shadow+8E+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF_SzL9XlXNapBMH_-Z1GLic7kc_p1KdCTPUc_EKQ8HZrj9G__yzT-rNfnMjDnEXkTHqIcI4wWcgXUgpkl9eADqDP5ur8fTx2h9_SkFtDfX7YXqppJZkSE1gnsNFwZQeDgRJktku4U_2Fn/s640/MUFE+Make+Up+For+Ever+Aqua+Shadow+8E+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As the rest of MUFE's <i>Aqua</i> line, these are waterproof, and My God are they waterproof! I ran the swatch below under hot tap water for an experimental demonstration. In fact, these shadows are everything-proof, as it wouldn't come of even after vigorous rubbing. What's reassuring though is that is comes right off with your regular makeup remover (I use Bioderma, of course. Who does't?)<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The colour of <i>8E</i> is deep, rich, and vibrant. It's described by MUFE as Matte Green, but I beg to differ - as much as it is green, it is also blue, and both, but neither in particular. I pair it wish a dusty matte olive colour from the NARS <i>High Society</i> palette in the crease and MAC <i>Blanc Type</i> over the lid.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you find that lining your eyes with anything but blacks gives a sort of wishy-washy look and does not define the eyes as well, try applying the coloured liner reasonably thickly, and then run a tiny fine line of black as close to the lashline as you can (I like using a liquid for this, as you can really trace it over the roots of the lashes themselves). That way it doesn't take away from the colour, but pulls everything together somehow.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And if you usually shy away from such colours on your face for the fear of looking <i>80's, </i>check out the Aqua Shadow pencils nonetheless;<i> </i>there are other more conventional colours to consider. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But as typical of any colour infatuation, it has crept into other areas of my collection, and anyway - I find teal a perfect colour for these mid-inbetween-season months like February. By now, everyone has had their fill of wintery darks and purples, but it's not quite appropriate to whip out the neons just yet. So he is called <i>Electric Teal</i>, and I have fallen in and out of love with this polish repeatedly throughout the years, but it is currently in my 'shortcut' pile of polishes, and it is wonderful. The formula is magical, as are so many of the Nails Inc polish formulas (<i>formulae?</i>). The shade was a colab with the InStyle magazine, but there are plenty of these hanging about on eBay, at friendly eBay prices.</div>

Okay, people! The moment we've all been waiting for is finally here: MAC's greatly anticipated <i>Strenght </i>collection has launched online! It is still unclear as to when it is hitting the stores, so if you have been dreaming of owning either or both <i>Party Parrot</i> and <i>Pink Pigeon</i> as much as me (I have been a slave to the avian alliteration lipsticks since I missed them with the Iris Apfel collection), then head over to maccosmetics.co.uk, and do it quickly as well! <br />

I must admit, I am reluctant to try expensive and popular nails polish brands for the fear of liking them too much. I thus shied away from the rectangularness of Butter London bottles for a very long time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This Christmas, however, one came into my possession, and as I dreaded, it is freakin' awesome.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So as I slowly clamber onto the Butter London bandwagon, I thought I'd share my fresh discovery with you. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<br />
It's called <i>Rosie Lee</i>, and it's straight-up small particle glitter in a clear base. 'Rose' is a good description for the colour in the bottle, or if worn on its own. It leans somewhat copper. You can get opaque coverage in three coats. I found through trial and error that the cuticle line looks tidier with a base colour underneath.<br />
<br />
Here I painter one coat of Essie's <i>Your Hut or Mine </i>with<i> </i>two layers of <i>Rosie Lee </i>to follow. This Essie pulls the whole combo away from copper and more into the realm of pink.<br />

Astalift is an anti-ageing skincare brand developed by Fujifilm. That's right, the photography people. They have worked hard to establish their own line of scientific research focusing on collagen, anti-oxidation technology and micro technology. Quite the twist, but the line has been acclaimed by many.</div>

Hell, we even saw some snow, which everyone respectfully honoured by driving at 15 mph. The extremities are always first to feel the cold bite, but with feet securely coated in Ugg (whatever, fashion police, I plead innocent), hand skincare moves rapidly to the forefront in my list of cosmetic concerns. Having said that, hands rarely come off my care radar, as I work in lab gloves a lot, hence wash my hands a lot, and I also often hear that hands are one of the first age giveaways.<br />
<br />
My hand care routine is by no means complicated: it features of a standard hand moisturiser and an interesting product, which I have discovered by accident and ended up loving. I shall start with the latter: Crabtree and Evelyn <i>Gardeners Hand Recovery</i>.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX6ugvvKvjKgCGXDb_clhwYcc5dBI3zjTGMSzbWiREGJdGBkTmS_pJlYaAf-dRZM2TIyatCHAKAdSjSR0p3YGoDzmj0u0KsDKGLzupOXF70-FGTID_COt2Zn-BRfft9J9zoVyFEa4d3JLs/s1600/Crabtree+and+Evelyn+Gardeners+Hand+Recovery3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX6ugvvKvjKgCGXDb_clhwYcc5dBI3zjTGMSzbWiREGJdGBkTmS_pJlYaAf-dRZM2TIyatCHAKAdSjSR0p3YGoDzmj0u0KsDKGLzupOXF70-FGTID_COt2Zn-BRfft9J9zoVyFEa4d3JLs/s400/Crabtree+and+Evelyn+Gardeners+Hand+Recovery3.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I got this tube as a gift-with purchase sample, and assumed it was a hand cream. When the need arose, I routinely squeezed a little of this in my palms and started spreading. My first reaction was "omg, this is wrong! It must have gone off or something..." It was very gritty and would not sink in as I expected. After recruiting help from a tap, I noticed my hands were left with a light oily residue, smelled of lavender and were soft as a pony's nose. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I red afterwards, that the product was indeed an exfoliating-moisturising-conditioning treatment designed to "aid and relief of very dry and work-roughened hands". It looks and feels very much like a rough scrub infused with oil. The smell is of "green clover (??), lavender, sage rosemary and thyme" - sophisticated and subtle. I apply this to dry hands and massage it around in my palms. The sensation is DIVINE! It's slippery enough to not drag the skin; the hard particles just hit the spot. I then rinse with water, and leave be. The light oiliness is soaked up as the hands dry.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIiMtjfjYbHI_83tBcO1Wcpb_g0zL9rjOBdmfRM4vNwcClyA_W6vTcLN-5NgJ90KmWopOl2PQ_nySKwVSUIDP331QHXNci0g-1zHHmZDwdRW64GRnCBTc1qNh32_bwXxBmSgGbLzTarxx8/s1600/Crabtree+And+Evelyn+Gardeners+Hand+Recovery+Swatch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="377" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIiMtjfjYbHI_83tBcO1Wcpb_g0zL9rjOBdmfRM4vNwcClyA_W6vTcLN-5NgJ90KmWopOl2PQ_nySKwVSUIDP331QHXNci0g-1zHHmZDwdRW64GRnCBTc1qNh32_bwXxBmSgGbLzTarxx8/s400/Crabtree+And+Evelyn+Gardeners+Hand+Recovery+Swatch.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have you just peeled a muddy potato, fiddled with bike chain or shined some black shoes? Sometimes conventional hand washing doesn't quite cut it, but this awesome goo will rid you of the <b>plumber's hands</b> look instantly. It's the kind of treatment that you won't be using every day - I've had my sample tube over a year, so the generous 100 ml (£16) will last you an eternity. It comes in several different scent variations, and is quite a unique little thing on the market. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
And as far as daily hand cream application goes, my heart belongs to the one and only Laura Mercier hand cream (or should I say <i>Hand Crèèèèèème</i>?) in Crème de Pistache. And my love for this is rooted entirely in he scent. I can tell you that this is without a shadow of a doubt the best-smelling product I have ever used. It smells like a bakery, but not just any old "ooOh, cake" kind of deal. It smells like that forbidden bakery that you walk past on your way to work at 8 in the morning, having made some ambitious carbohydrate-related promise to yourself just the night before. It is sweet and strong, and lingers on your hands for hours. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

And last but not least, for my cuticles I use <i>Cuticle Oil +</i> by Orly. I picked this one mainly for it's size - it's a 30 ml bottle that I've had for over a year now and hardly made a dent in it. Nonetheless, it's a professional product with thoughtful ingredients like orange blossom and wild cherry extracts to moisturise, heal and refresh problem cuticles. You can find this guy online for around £10.</div>

If the spring fashion runways are anything to go by, we are all to embrace our natural beauty in the upcoming season. For the lucky few this may mean washing their face in the morning and heading out the door with no more than lip balm, but for us peasants it means that the "no-makeup-but-really-at-least-twenty-minutes'-worth-of-makeup" makeup look is back on the cards. Either way, I can almost hear faces giving out sighs of relief - after the dark lips of autumn and the griller-rich holiday season, it is nice to practice the <i>enhancing</i> function of cosmetics, not just <i>decorative</i>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And although I can't say that I am entirely committed to this recent trend, there is a particular product that I have been using almost exclusively since the day I got it, and it is the ideal cheat to a healthy looking face - Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in the appropriately named <i>Natural Beauty.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw26duphIqKDZMgx1WlBr-SvOEP22FrpkyHdNJf0-o5rCuICysgm-llmjYWdKzGeeRSxwwQQgsFKRmAi8CaKcmD0ZmJg1aTmmEF2zAsGcTbo0B7XO37A9ubL4e13owNyVeFhQgFR5W2dbB/s1600/Tarte+Amazonian+Clay+Blush+Natural+Beauty1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw26duphIqKDZMgx1WlBr-SvOEP22FrpkyHdNJf0-o5rCuICysgm-llmjYWdKzGeeRSxwwQQgsFKRmAi8CaKcmD0ZmJg1aTmmEF2zAsGcTbo0B7XO37A9ubL4e13owNyVeFhQgFR5W2dbB/s400/Tarte+Amazonian+Clay+Blush+Natural+Beauty1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For this blush, it is all in the name. <b>Firstly</b>, the longevity claim, 12h. According to Tarte, the product owes its magical properties to the clay from the banks of the Amazon river, of which the blush is made and then dried in the sun ( o.O? ). And although it has been talked about high and low, I am here to tell you - it wears until you take it off. And this is coming from someone that can quite often assess makeup after 14+ h of wear.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiftK7TFHcU5xOTbqZRcUs_9-9AQz1GMIdrB4ulkuPzbVVzsulJyWCYu-0vqsL99bOgbLm5C3QIx56IEgcRy466wb1IawGK8NOGamhFQi-jjube71mWQFjvZm5jak7A_xUmXGz3Ut_20E-D/s1600/Tarte+Amazonian+Clay+Blush+Natural+Beauty3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiftK7TFHcU5xOTbqZRcUs_9-9AQz1GMIdrB4ulkuPzbVVzsulJyWCYu-0vqsL99bOgbLm5C3QIx56IEgcRy466wb1IawGK8NOGamhFQi-jjube71mWQFjvZm5jak7A_xUmXGz3Ut_20E-D/s400/Tarte+Amazonian+Clay+Blush+Natural+Beauty3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It makes sense. Apart from the obvious mechanical wear factor, one of the main causes of makeup disappearing off the face is the oils in the skin. So thinking of all the clay-based skincare designed to tighten pores and regulate oil production, it sounds reasonable to believe the blusher's tale.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIWx5qRj5rPZgdF2ce5emrNrII6kpmThm2V6NIRUP4HiNPIWxmtFBkEq72VBXuXeGX_4kmzPcbo9LKIXZ5WFJErhxlrcb40CNpDSHYcohzMFPnehhQdZ37A4DMeG5qQjteZmF67WeRay8p/s1600/Tarte+Amazonian+Clay+Blush+Natural+Beauty2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIWx5qRj5rPZgdF2ce5emrNrII6kpmThm2V6NIRUP4HiNPIWxmtFBkEq72VBXuXeGX_4kmzPcbo9LKIXZ5WFJErhxlrcb40CNpDSHYcohzMFPnehhQdZ37A4DMeG5qQjteZmF67WeRay8p/s400/Tarte+Amazonian+Clay+Blush+Natural+Beauty2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And <b>secondly</b> - the shade. <i>Natural beauty</i> is described simply as red. In the pan there is somewhat of a pinkish tone to it, but on the skin it mimics precisely the colour of a flush of the cheeks. The kind of attractive colour you get (cliché alert!) when you've just walked in from the cold. Which is why I love incorporating it in my bare-face imitations.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJAkt58RhLtXPTSCyopqFEVZ-Ane3Ax49ztV2DGppSSvWAJRwoEyZEzFxeG773Gyva3Fzop7XEFlNDvaCDbppVWvukf0ksu6hcjMTfKjTnrXPWwK454UM-8hqYAIPdGfvInHkyEtQkFH1R/s1600/Tarte+Amazonian+Clay+Blush+Natural+Beauty+Swatch1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJAkt58RhLtXPTSCyopqFEVZ-Ane3Ax49ztV2DGppSSvWAJRwoEyZEzFxeG773Gyva3Fzop7XEFlNDvaCDbppVWvukf0ksu6hcjMTfKjTnrXPWwK454UM-8hqYAIPdGfvInHkyEtQkFH1R/s400/Tarte+Amazonian+Clay+Blush+Natural+Beauty+Swatch1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The finish of the blush is almost matte (there is certainly no glitter or shimmer in it), but in some lights, it appears just slightly radiant, which adds to the whole 'oh, look at me, I am so healthy, I eat berries for dinner and glow from within' kind of skin.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3VEfH__3mToaR9h1GdxQ9wFfF2Db0C3Optc1x6EltVI-be1cKCD_Wc1m0rVjkoQED-ziwytgNrIuZNaOk-_NL5e2wmbxVU_bc4q-pBqNCA2urejj70neP20Hr7T52nTWJtDFb6Y_3gaAV/s1600/Tarte+Amazonian+Clay+Blush+Natural+Beauty+Swatch2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="295" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3VEfH__3mToaR9h1GdxQ9wFfF2Db0C3Optc1x6EltVI-be1cKCD_Wc1m0rVjkoQED-ziwytgNrIuZNaOk-_NL5e2wmbxVU_bc4q-pBqNCA2urejj70neP20Hr7T52nTWJtDFb6Y_3gaAV/s400/Tarte+Amazonian+Clay+Blush+Natural+Beauty+Swatch2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Another great use for this shade is to combine it with red lipstick. Traditional pink or peach cheeks and red lips can sometimes clash, but with this one, you can be sure to look organic.<br />
<br />
<br />
Tarte is one of the few brands that still hasn't made it over to the UK. Someone should really sort that out. They seem like an interesting company, and most of their products generate some sort of positive hype. But if you happen to be within a swatching distance of a Tarte counter, I recommend you go and check out their range.<br />

13 and started caring about such things), and for the most part, I
was under the impression that my hair was suffering from some kind of
hair health impairment. I have drenched it in everything under the sun
in attempts to rid it of the everlasting frizz, wave and kink. With the
ammount of effort that went into it over the years, I believe my hair is
"cured", but it still looks the same as it always has done. It has thus
dawned on me recently, that my hair is not unhealthy, but just plain-ol' , excue me, <i>sh*t</i>. And by that I mean the texture, the pattern and the behaviour (and don't tell me hair doesn't have behaviour). I have since decided to focus on products that deliver cosmetic results, not remedies. <br />
<br />
My most recent discovery is a wash-out conditioning product by Alterna - the Caviar <i>Anti-Aging 3-Minute Shine Boost</i>. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr8QU0F0zA950FCVEAs_RItYwEIz3QiGjv-X9u-m2DXi4loBdQSz7cDEERy6DrcBxCVFBS_z5byoo4_6NrTpDLblHlL4q0ZHBHPtHHWgXtOBnmwFO7oR2LNdNrkaVYb-GuiVXK97ftlrjk/s1600/Alterna+Caviar+3+Minute+Shine+review1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr8QU0F0zA950FCVEAs_RItYwEIz3QiGjv-X9u-m2DXi4loBdQSz7cDEERy6DrcBxCVFBS_z5byoo4_6NrTpDLblHlL4q0ZHBHPtHHWgXtOBnmwFO7oR2LNdNrkaVYb-GuiVXK97ftlrjk/s640/Alterna+Caviar+3+Minute+Shine+review1.jpg" width="374" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
"Anti-aging" is a term I have never seen used in a hair care context before, and I wouldn't dwell on it too much either as far as this product is concerned. At the end of the day, hair is created and nourished at the rout, which I am sure can be affected by age, but unless the product targets the scalp itself, I doubt there is much difference in old vs. young hair. Except for childrens' hair. Most children seem to have enviably shiny, forever-clean, and naturally beautifus hair up untill the magic age of *-teen; when we welcome the sad buggers into the row of frizzy-haired women equipped with hair straighteners and styling goos of different varieties. <br />
<br />
I digress. It is not the anti-aging claims of this product that captured my attention. Alterna's Caviar line is geered towards providing moisture for dry, brittle hair. <i>The 3-Minute Shine</i> product description, however, does not explicitly promise any magical medicinal effects. Insead, it calls itself "lip-gloss for your hair", and vows to deliver instant shine.<b> "Hi-Def</b>" shine, in fact. You have to be HD if you want to appeal to the modern day man, even if it makes no bloody sense. Very trendy.<br />
<br />
And deliver shine it did! I applied this after my regular shampoo and conditioner and waited an imaginary estimated 3-5 minutes, then rinced. I noticed a difference the second I started brushing the hair - the bristles of the brush ran through effortlessly, the hair strands fell uniform and smooth. Once dry, the hair had that good slippery feel it gets after you've taken it to the hairdressers'. What's even more pleasing is that the hair remained straight for three days, and that icluded gyms, showers and bicycles. <br />
<br />
I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone who wants to achieve salon-blow-dry-esque hair at home, make brushing and styling easier and avoid needing to re-style repeatedly. For those concerned about ingredients, this potion is free of parabens, mineral oil and phthalates, and rather surprisinly for its purpose - silicones. Its nice to know you can acheive such successfull shine without silicones.<br />
<br />
Alterna is a professional hair-care brand, so may be difficult to find in the physical world, but one can acquire its <i>Shine-Boosting </i>offering through the internet for an eye-watering £20-25. Marina Stingrayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01567046193510301746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697783313118752246.post-7430603285542988622012-12-24T08:49:00.001-08:002012-12-24T08:51:48.179-08:00How to help your lipstick survive dinner<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Bold red lips is one of the most popular makeup look for the holiday season. It is the ultimate accessory that suits absolutely everyone. I love red lips, and have been using "its Christmas!" as an excuse to wear my favourite reds every single day, including around the house. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Bright lipstick is notoriously impractical, especially if you are like me, and you can't help but maintain the incoming food flow more or less constant. So I thought I'd share my lipstick application routine that prevents it from wearing off too soon, and helps it fade gracefully. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Apply moisturising lip balm in advance, or simply start with bare lips. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaRaxUMOo23xy1bjODkg6kIripjMWTFGfKmzyHPyFyIXsLHGKEU1-2P3-aRn6qr9beHhb39w43B4qLWHqjeQsxlMH6giUW8SpafTMIEBLKnyqHaToigMZf5uS9gPoLtTc5jEwikCB1tuY_/s1600/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaRaxUMOo23xy1bjODkg6kIripjMWTFGfKmzyHPyFyIXsLHGKEU1-2P3-aRn6qr9beHhb39w43B4qLWHqjeQsxlMH6giUW8SpafTMIEBLKnyqHaToigMZf5uS9gPoLtTc5jEwikCB1tuY_/s320/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Pick a lip pencil closest to the colour of your lipstick. Using a sharp pencil will help you get the a more precise line, especially if you're not well practiced, but as you can tell, my liner here is reasonably blunt, which makes it glide easier.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYYnRdm0BIbOAckAG2Sna1pr8hZ5OvzbEW_vPU_6VLTR4SMhnGwqNNLRjJKoznvLDd_FCBTGDJq-pc649_GPuBHgljsgqlx4JKKHTYODzZ7zgX5Scds6ggnVpmMrwCOA9qS0E3p87q1Arx/s1600/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYYnRdm0BIbOAckAG2Sna1pr8hZ5OvzbEW_vPU_6VLTR4SMhnGwqNNLRjJKoznvLDd_FCBTGDJq-pc649_GPuBHgljsgqlx4JKKHTYODzZ7zgX5Scds6ggnVpmMrwCOA9qS0E3p87q1Arx/s320/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Next, fill in the outline that you have created. This will ensure that if you do eat (I know I will!) or drink, even if the gloss of the lipstick wears off, the stain of the pencil won't leave you with a blank lip centre.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW4DQx0tupUqglieQSpZDnEatwPnRZ-0Lm48zMTMAt8AIkpw3bfK9KR-22CtwXTeqa99MyEkAJ0dRSyLMv4lvCSFueQPWj0ceRb6tbUTY_1xhNOpnubr_HUNcut6EbAhUVwZ_dgSz40tEm/s1600/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW4DQx0tupUqglieQSpZDnEatwPnRZ-0Lm48zMTMAt8AIkpw3bfK9KR-22CtwXTeqa99MyEkAJ0dRSyLMv4lvCSFueQPWj0ceRb6tbUTY_1xhNOpnubr_HUNcut6EbAhUVwZ_dgSz40tEm/s320/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now the obvious part - apply your lipstick. The key to success of this whole process is to work in thin layers, so make sure you don't go over the same area more than once - just enough for the lipstick to show its colour. Using a lip brush instead of going straight from the bullet will give you an even thinner layer, and will also allow you to get closer to the edges, in case your liner and lipstick don't match exactly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOGUjWvbI08dnFRINbi8eYj6Ewnbij1bvdsVCA4hkEu0QVugmzUua6DjjhuXxt4WVBtnZE4vfFbK-4mzTUGr2ud9XCit2zuEwDIPbUNmt35H0HvJP8tN9qSbvYzRwj_0WUuZIWxKXC9T2w/s1600/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOGUjWvbI08dnFRINbi8eYj6Ewnbij1bvdsVCA4hkEu0QVugmzUua6DjjhuXxt4WVBtnZE4vfFbK-4mzTUGr2ud9XCit2zuEwDIPbUNmt35H0HvJP8tN9qSbvYzRwj_0WUuZIWxKXC9T2w/s320/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now grab a tissue and press it against the lips once or twice. This will take the excess product off, leaving the pigment behind.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEideRFXxddcIJIwG9X91umslUJvrIEVEseMiDkrA9s-TtAfsfr2doof1E494FAMxYN6MjEvv0jKTTq1jj-Jq94jJ6x0wh800eNv1f_dp7ZkwSH17Bx6KgKp8M0aa2yIPLNSvSmEMremdu08/s1600/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEideRFXxddcIJIwG9X91umslUJvrIEVEseMiDkrA9s-TtAfsfr2doof1E494FAMxYN6MjEvv0jKTTq1jj-Jq94jJ6x0wh800eNv1f_dp7ZkwSH17Bx6KgKp8M0aa2yIPLNSvSmEMremdu08/s320/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
For the final step, apply your lipstick again, but this time use dabbing motions, rather than sweeps. Only pat the lipstick in the centre of your lips, where the gloss will have been removed by the tissue.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg57hs-nDMRbd6gBJ_hRp6LjLRljFqRkScSMK8xfcQSemyRX0lNWPs-FsYPQa3Rh0hpRtkx_FGlR5YycHXICEGthu7YPYtj0uS0Jy7DgaKIOYhf2Km6Yw4SqeBSDwuconm0JSBZwoR9ZGM9/s1600/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg57hs-nDMRbd6gBJ_hRp6LjLRljFqRkScSMK8xfcQSemyRX0lNWPs-FsYPQa3Rh0hpRtkx_FGlR5YycHXICEGthu7YPYtj0uS0Jy7DgaKIOYhf2Km6Yw4SqeBSDwuconm0JSBZwoR9ZGM9/s320/Chanel+Pirate+How+to+make+red+lipstick+last6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And you're done! Hopefully this will help you be less conscious of your bright pout while helping yourself to a pork pie. </div>

<div>
Happy Holidays! x</div>

<br />
Today I receive a wonderful bright green cream - <i>Mojito</i>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTyy3sAjQnB4WJqv-sB7SjEoWvMIxUHitRBFJJ9R-alQb7vIzMBzjdy0cuQx0L0m_ThITJ_drJzIY10cBSkPk_25j31BbEsGb5CA15xezGLBDwHTVLlw_123UyS4c5c_nvbf71sH0imLnT/s1600/Ciate+Mojito1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTyy3sAjQnB4WJqv-sB7SjEoWvMIxUHitRBFJJ9R-alQb7vIzMBzjdy0cuQx0L0m_ThITJ_drJzIY10cBSkPk_25j31BbEsGb5CA15xezGLBDwHTVLlw_123UyS4c5c_nvbf71sH0imLnT/s320/Ciate+Mojito1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The colour remind me of fresh peas in a pod. Its bright, and remarkably unseasonal. I can see myself wearing it a ton in the summer though!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

On December 22 we had the last caviar in the Mini Mani Month, and this one's a bit of a weird one - <i>Sundance</i>.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii-xrakrFvSmIYv6dY30NyFkypAqJB6p8t1W9yYjiIaO02FBokIJ0bGeL5hCvLJMolIoeRliexXWoJzrXNYnMj8R2i-51asPBNuFgPEdP1NWEWTQ2L1l6ko_SiZtcFyG0e7K-6lKf13etD/s1600/Ciate+Sundance1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii-xrakrFvSmIYv6dY30NyFkypAqJB6p8t1W9yYjiIaO02FBokIJ0bGeL5hCvLJMolIoeRliexXWoJzrXNYnMj8R2i-51asPBNuFgPEdP1NWEWTQ2L1l6ko_SiZtcFyG0e7K-6lKf13etD/s320/Ciate+Sundance1.jpg" width="235" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>Sundance</i> is a mix of gold and blue beads with large gold glitter thrown in. I like the colours separately, and the little bead texture is mesmerisingly beautiful, but I must admin, blue+yellow, in my opinion, is just about the ugliest colour combo imaginable.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ5wtrQNNXb5UIZE-BWxJKrM89SRBF_2iumUUQVP4FrOLVmyldKUTwbxhCvx1m8kzmrRKIVH8yLLx6bXTw7zrzSpC8YIjxN-XHAf2v53pI7J3emRsKKBBk8pogPnHIUR4MEdqdT3ByVHVa/s1600/Ciate+Sundance2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ5wtrQNNXb5UIZE-BWxJKrM89SRBF_2iumUUQVP4FrOLVmyldKUTwbxhCvx1m8kzmrRKIVH8yLLx6bXTw7zrzSpC8YIjxN-XHAf2v53pI7J3emRsKKBBk8pogPnHIUR4MEdqdT3ByVHVa/s320/Ciate+Sundance2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Really not sure how I could make this work, let me know if you have a base colour suggestion. </div>

On December 21 I discovered a taupe beauty by the name of <i>Fade to Greige</i>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQZk91zIc45WIm7kn4a1cAWqDvxLxHSR8geYJQLzKUCwdDbje0pJ7H6wYaWf_ppPqKnoUfGpfo4PkSOZ-2fkBf8pPM-Vgu2IDPbte2qos6d4HLspQpOmTtTkcRO3o7OCZkFbXEuZajKXvq/s1600/Ciate+Fade+to+Greige1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQZk91zIc45WIm7kn4a1cAWqDvxLxHSR8geYJQLzKUCwdDbje0pJ7H6wYaWf_ppPqKnoUfGpfo4PkSOZ-2fkBf8pPM-Vgu2IDPbte2qos6d4HLspQpOmTtTkcRO3o7OCZkFbXEuZajKXvq/s320/Ciate+Fade+to+Greige1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
According to google, 'greige' is a term used in textile production, and refers to undied and unbleached (virgin) fabrics. In the land of polishaholics however, 'greige' is used to describe a colour that is somewhere between grey and beige. Think Chanel's <i>Particuliere</i>, that singlehandedly started this trend. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeOM1n7TZrfaUj-U1jSHbLa8-KjkQC6SUjnWpnwUYAI0VhBr3EHDmiCBjN9_ANmfl5Tq0M1ftAO97ucQ9eBKHeIjoCZIRS-oRNzZ87sFO9n56NHlXXZPwGtkXeXDWPPYNmsE_sVUVJIpfX/s1600/Ciate+Fade+to+Greige2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeOM1n7TZrfaUj-U1jSHbLa8-KjkQC6SUjnWpnwUYAI0VhBr3EHDmiCBjN9_ANmfl5Tq0M1ftAO97ucQ9eBKHeIjoCZIRS-oRNzZ87sFO9n56NHlXXZPwGtkXeXDWPPYNmsE_sVUVJIpfX/s320/Ciate+Fade+to+Greige2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>Fade to Greige</i> is Ciate's take on the the classy marriage of grey and brown, and I love how they've executed it. Amongst the obvious suspects (grey+brown), this colour has a plummy purply look to it, which makes it unlike the multitude of other <i>Particuliere</i> wannabes.<br />
<br />
I think I say this about every polish, but I do think this may be one of my favourites so far!<br />
<br />Marina Stingrayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01567046193510301746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697783313118752246.post-52267375529892658912012-12-21T02:13:00.004-08:002012-12-21T02:14:15.159-08:00Ciate Advent Day 20<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
20th December was my birthday, and it's like they knew! The polish of the day was <i>Magic Carpet</i> - a purply magenta glitter.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh9tlQa0JKRSZYnf6NrRZtxLufUI9IXxJO2DDlQi63eiqp6EcJggZLsBh1lSXpUx_YGRpZCiYEErWlMx5_ZFxnBvE0WZtVBE8Tt_iPQFvIFohLpCKMEBFIBM9iiqlAumW7j95wV9maO2Eu/s1600/Ciate+Magic+carpet1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh9tlQa0JKRSZYnf6NrRZtxLufUI9IXxJO2DDlQi63eiqp6EcJggZLsBh1lSXpUx_YGRpZCiYEErWlMx5_ZFxnBvE0WZtVBE8Tt_iPQFvIFohLpCKMEBFIBM9iiqlAumW7j95wV9maO2Eu/s320/Ciate+Magic+carpet1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The glitter in this is not very dense, it took me about three coats to get an even layer on an accent nail, but it that makes it a perfect layering glitter. Yum.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here it is with <i>Cutie Pie</i> from yesterday, replacing the caviar accent nails. Very girly. Too girly, even?<br />

Although the plan was to wear the <i>Candy Shop</i> caviar with the pale grey <i>Cookies and Cream </i>(which I am missing), I paired it up with <i>Cutie Pie</i> from earlier in the Mini Mani Month. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I ended up with a centimetres worth of nail polish coat, because the pink was very sheer. It will make a good French manicure polish, but not very good solid pink. I mean, you can still build it up, and maybe if you had even a fraction more patience than me, you won't drag the previous coat, causing streaks, and it will take you less than four coats.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Ciate <i>Cutie Pie</i> and <i>Candy Shop</i> on the accent nail</div>
<br />
An honourable mention to my Revlon <i>Quick Dry</i> top coat, which is the shiniest, quickest, dryest top coat of them all.Marina Stingrayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01567046193510301746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697783313118752246.post-80503325573238598722012-12-19T16:10:00.000-08:002012-12-19T16:31:01.253-08:00Ciate Advent Day 19<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This morning's Advent discovery was probably one of the most exciting ones so far. I don't think of myself as having dull taste for nail polish, but today's <i>Cookies and Cream</i>, which looks like the plainest of the plain at first site, got me all giddy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHGGEMPMJC3aYCwB8j8Gnt9TjejNf5AG99MXKXJtDf9Zpy41ggb2s8PXBbtBiGzGPrp3adCpmvgoegSTEzg3PNPnn7npkLnK85s3Usxs10xTk1misMK28KPGenuz5M2IPrronlSemZ3z_w/s1600/Ciate+Cookies+and+Cream1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHGGEMPMJC3aYCwB8j8Gnt9TjejNf5AG99MXKXJtDf9Zpy41ggb2s8PXBbtBiGzGPrp3adCpmvgoegSTEzg3PNPnn7npkLnK85s3Usxs10xTk1misMK28KPGenuz5M2IPrronlSemZ3z_w/s320/Ciate+Cookies+and+Cream1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
It doesn't come out on pictures as it looks in real life. <i>Cookies and Cream</i> is a very light creamy (how many times can I say 'cream' in this post?) grey. It doesn't lean pink, like it looks on the first picture. This shady photo below is more accurate.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsjfW90a2nclX-kPtcIf1DdaH-syZirxYGGyLeJHcmW1QKd6EQh4GDNybe9JU3BC_OjtgFH6N6__h6oSwa8MWy-zLw6EPx-UHcFl1czysSuNKqV76Pzg-__Ou89uZ5jBbUL8sKYqburJIc/s1600/Ciate+Cookies+and+Cream2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsjfW90a2nclX-kPtcIf1DdaH-syZirxYGGyLeJHcmW1QKd6EQh4GDNybe9JU3BC_OjtgFH6N6__h6oSwa8MWy-zLw6EPx-UHcFl1czysSuNKqV76Pzg-__Ou89uZ5jBbUL8sKYqburJIc/s320/Ciate+Cookies+and+Cream2.jpg" width="243" /></a></div>
<br />
I was so excited, that I was going to make this guy my Birthday polish. It's a big decision, and a tough choice. I was so excited, that I kept it standing proudly on my desk while I packed up the rest of the Mini Mani Month, my hot rollers and my dog, got in the car and drove off to the opposite end of the country. I forgot it home, basically. What on earth am I to do now?<br />
<br />

And we've still got more coming! Unbelievable. Truly a gift that keeps on giving.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Number 18 is a cheerful caviar - <i>Candy Shop</i>. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4g75SJqAVw9eHqDOrLXeI-h4Jpn90OuKn5V75418CwVZ6rt7037ARjhs0rfPMlhCR_AeYYK5CFJ_8DMO5-3i8KeTHDEaBktcmvch1YQwWrjuEs4B2c7WX_G1N6TmQROGI6qrstDq8VETW/s1600/Ciate+Candy+Shop1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4g75SJqAVw9eHqDOrLXeI-h4Jpn90OuKn5V75418CwVZ6rt7037ARjhs0rfPMlhCR_AeYYK5CFJ_8DMO5-3i8KeTHDEaBktcmvch1YQwWrjuEs4B2c7WX_G1N6TmQROGI6qrstDq8VETW/s320/Ciate+Candy+Shop1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>Candy Shop</i> is a mix of orange, hot pink and turquoise beads. This one out of the three caviars I own now looks the most edible. Hence the name, I guess.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTaDbTQAvIx7wa71HZx0fPDrZwVZrOxoVKp6QPTz7KBLmXplk6K9GcUphDfVIRtEgVPM-BXWlz1t4mbquLsWPGN-3QKlU_m89XGy6wiokjNM2QgbmFWmn99XE379oULIzVhYTqZmihPWtG/s1600/Ciate+Candy+Shop2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTaDbTQAvIx7wa71HZx0fPDrZwVZrOxoVKp6QPTz7KBLmXplk6K9GcUphDfVIRtEgVPM-BXWlz1t4mbquLsWPGN-3QKlU_m89XGy6wiokjNM2QgbmFWmn99XE379oULIzVhYTqZmihPWtG/s320/Ciate+Candy+Shop2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
People have been putting this on a blue base, which looks nice, but I think it would look particularly cool with an orange or yellow base to accentuate the brightness of the mix. <br />

Door 17th, and the Advent wonder of the day was <i>Power Dressing</i>. I didn't get the reference. All I could picture was a salad with French dressing overflowing. I was explained, however, that 'power dressing' is referring to powerful women in tailored suits, which makes a lot more sense now. <b>Duh</b>.</div>
<br />
While we're on the topic, actually - I don't think Ciate are particularly great at naming their babies. Not that I expect every beauty brand headquarters to have a specially trained team of punsters <span style="color: #8e7cc3;">e.g. OPI and their '<i>Berlin There Done That</i>' (for their Germany collection) or Illamasqua with the <i>Zygomatic </i>blusher (Zygomatic's the skull bone where your blush goes)</span>, but something about Ciate's titles just isn't sticking. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitXBh0oh9afESIEtk02INpo5v4jumiW-aIid-CSu306OJO4UH1UuXDF4Vk_TU4hUjB08xTPYva-ozLrqCQZRz3lDMRjeD9JPFYQD3AIlwfAWEw8Ph-YZYSwNJVKaQ3RQ9bOnuEGHqgqr1H/s1600/Ciate+Power+Dressing1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitXBh0oh9afESIEtk02INpo5v4jumiW-aIid-CSu306OJO4UH1UuXDF4Vk_TU4hUjB08xTPYva-ozLrqCQZRz3lDMRjeD9JPFYQD3AIlwfAWEw8Ph-YZYSwNJVKaQ3RQ9bOnuEGHqgqr1H/s320/Ciate+Power+Dressing1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<i>Power Dressing</i> is a very dark navy cream. It almost looks black, but not. I guess it does look like that tricky suit fabric, where you can't quite tell it's blue until you put black next to it. The polish looks smart, I can picture it well on short nails with a very glossy top coat. <br />

Today I finally got my hands on Ciate's <i>Big Yellow Taxi</i>. It one one of the few polishes I knew was included in the Mini Mani Month, and I also knew that is was supposed to be a very flattering yellow. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5hiICk-wtCV8Z39oxwFa0Um2pbQiDDetQzZg8clxB_VnFsq-ILe5g2Qu8xt4awukidgCu4yMKfkNwmmgpACiPFZNj0CgBugopgIEK7BD3pP5uL6Nd-_iWrIM6O6e6tkGTenfmNjqYN-GA/s1600/Ciate+Big+Yellow+Taxi1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5hiICk-wtCV8Z39oxwFa0Um2pbQiDDetQzZg8clxB_VnFsq-ILe5g2Qu8xt4awukidgCu4yMKfkNwmmgpACiPFZNj0CgBugopgIEK7BD3pP5uL6Nd-_iWrIM6O6e6tkGTenfmNjqYN-GA/s320/Ciate+Big+Yellow+Taxi1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>Big Yellow Taxi</i> is a milky yellow, but it's definitely not a pastel. It doesn't have a mustardy tint to it, which I am always wary of in yellows.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUk8GTmmjNHrN_dyd09QdLKMVGiaRRl73Ho0tQOw_QOIjFKVjCR6RHCpn2s4YsHAmmoLhyphenhyphen4P_DeMAy59Rg7bcm_HXmv5kocZC37aP_EHWuligIXcNPPny2fND6Xb8oG6AGk4T6ILiIf8CS/s1600/Ciate+Big+Yellow+Taxi2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUk8GTmmjNHrN_dyd09QdLKMVGiaRRl73Ho0tQOw_QOIjFKVjCR6RHCpn2s4YsHAmmoLhyphenhyphen4P_DeMAy59Rg7bcm_HXmv5kocZC37aP_EHWuligIXcNPPny2fND6Xb8oG6AGk4T6ILiIf8CS/s320/Ciate+Big+Yellow+Taxi2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I love yellow nail polish! Ever since Chanel came out with <i>Mimosa (</i>which made quite a lot of noise in the beauty community both for how stunning the colour it was and for what poor quality it had), I have been attracted to yellow polish on days when I feel quirky or particularly bright. Marina Stingrayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01567046193510301746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697783313118752246.post-47363876502480971542012-12-15T13:07:00.001-08:002012-12-15T14:13:25.669-08:00Ciate Advent Day 15It's December 14th, and it's 12° outside. I can't complain, but there's this huge discrepancy between what I see out of my window and what my Christmas song playlist is telling me should be happening.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP2y0jAVXAxSXUH83oBS65ENZ0AfsqYDIv5GO9J51cLnROPks8f00paFvl93xbQ1N8wzey66aBDad2m670nvEOuugovxsTp1aKjxJbTQ47zBhltYbs6JbfxMBrQjE6UwrfXxSfqcGg5CE1/s1600/Ciate+Headliner1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP2y0jAVXAxSXUH83oBS65ENZ0AfsqYDIv5GO9J51cLnROPks8f00paFvl93xbQ1N8wzey66aBDad2m670nvEOuugovxsTp1aKjxJbTQ47zBhltYbs6JbfxMBrQjE6UwrfXxSfqcGg5CE1/s320/Ciate+Headliner1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Anyway. Ciate is taking me out of my comfort zone again with a turquoise blue. Here's <i>Headliner</i>. Check out the bow on this guy! It's drunk.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZSqRoRfjjGrFdNsvjuPBV69KgKJxRk5j5YHRvHjejSNz9rMX108NtIwJ06-g1mbRBRXl-ryXWaCPnyc3VN-Kq5n_xtrYE9ihroIGPwgc4whWXBLOj7NuQGz_r0rT5gWvsnX1KC_M-1d9T/s1600/Ciate+Headliner2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZSqRoRfjjGrFdNsvjuPBV69KgKJxRk5j5YHRvHjejSNz9rMX108NtIwJ06-g1mbRBRXl-ryXWaCPnyc3VN-Kq5n_xtrYE9ihroIGPwgc4whWXBLOj7NuQGz_r0rT5gWvsnX1KC_M-1d9T/s320/Ciate+Headliner2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It reminds me of Essie's <i>Turquoise and Caicos</i>, but probably only because it is the only other light bright blue polish I own. Side by side, they are embarrassingly dissimilar.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5meWJvKXUc1xLtzX3ChkChzlFegXdKFRA7RMWLd5_7SQGsl5iIotTB23mvTthOfmNvKmmVxPdE38rryXkOYGzP3f0Z-QG4Sz4Eg8qg_XTTDzNycwUmmDicV_-0sc4t9WMVu85bfHvyUzu/s1600/Ciate+Headliner+Essie+Turquoise+and+Caicos1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5meWJvKXUc1xLtzX3ChkChzlFegXdKFRA7RMWLd5_7SQGsl5iIotTB23mvTthOfmNvKmmVxPdE38rryXkOYGzP3f0Z-QG4Sz4Eg8qg_XTTDzNycwUmmDicV_-0sc4t9WMVu85bfHvyUzu/s320/Ciate+Headliner+Essie+Turquoise+and+Caicos1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I did go through a phase this summer where I would wear <i>Turquoise and Caicos </i>for a week, take it of and then repaint it again immediately. I like it a lot. So I am less skeptical of <i>Headliner</i> than I would be, had I not "forced" myself to try out the gorgeous Essie.<br />
<br />
I realise that sounds so... trivial. Maybe I should join Superfishiality-holics Anonymous or something. We can all get together and discuss how one does not simply wear boots with a sleeveless dress.Marina Stingrayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01567046193510301746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697783313118752246.post-10876598198286132352012-12-15T05:10:00.002-08:002012-12-15T05:10:47.003-08:00NOTDThis is Ciate <i>Vintage</i>, a friend from Advent Day 8. It's great. I love it! In fact, I love it so much, I have it on fingers AND toes. And that rarely happens.<br />
<br />
The picture below is 2 coats. So far I am liking the formula of the Mini Mani polishes, in particular - the brush.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Totally intentionally (ahem..), half of the swatch is in the sun, and half - in the shade.<br />

Wht joy, I thought it was never gonna come! And we have a bright polish to commemorate this December landmark, as this is the last Friday I am working this year!<br />
<div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKsOw-AvKHMIZXDsQ0IhviOjNG6w3z7CZozW9tsB4yKrTlunqjX8kYkVtVpYULcRdr4l6SntMIHXNdX01aoDXeIfDKfno64PnV59wtrqSwxrrnNMv0Z83bD1MZ4KUEvrFRHFgK2w88mRAr/s1600/Ciate+speed+dial1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKsOw-AvKHMIZXDsQ0IhviOjNG6w3z7CZozW9tsB4yKrTlunqjX8kYkVtVpYULcRdr4l6SntMIHXNdX01aoDXeIfDKfno64PnV59wtrqSwxrrnNMv0Z83bD1MZ4KUEvrFRHFgK2w88mRAr/s320/Ciate+speed+dial1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>Speed dial</i> is an in-your-face orange. How fun! It isn't particularly seasonally appropriate (and I am known to suffer from seasonal colour-matching), but I may just do a cheeky pedicure to wave around in Pilates.<br />
<br />
